LONDON (AP) ? There will be monarchs, presidents, prime ministers ? and David Beckham. Friday's opening ceremony for the London Olympics is an A-list affair.

Among the 60,000 spectators at Olympic Stadium will be Queen Elizabeth II ? who as British head of state will officially open the games ? along with royals including Prince William and his wife Kate, and Prince Harry.

The British government says more than 80 heads of state and government will be in the audience, including royalty from Brunei, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

The U.S. will be represented by first lady Michelle Obama and Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will also attend.

Beckham, who helped bring the games to London, will be there ? and the show will end with a performance by Paul McCartney.

Iran envoy accuses Israel over Bulgaria bus bomb

Iran's UN envoy on Wednesday accused Israel of staging a suicide bomb attack on an Israeli tourist bus in Bulgaria.

The envoy Mohammad Khazaee said Israel staged the attack, in which five Israelis and their Bulgarian driver were killed, as part of a campaign of "state terrorism operations and assassinations aimed at implicating others for narrow political gains."

The comments in a UN Security Council debate on the Middle East outraged Israeli officials, who have accused Iran and their Lebanese militia ally Hezbollah of carrying out the July 18 attack near Burgas airport.

Khazaee said "the representative of the Zionist criminal regime leveled baseless allegations against my country" over the Bulgaria attack.

Iran would never take part in such a "despicable attempt on the lives of innocent people," he added.

"Such (a) terrorist operation could only be planned and carried out by the same regime whose short history is full of state terrorism operations and assassinations aimed at implicating others for narrow political gains," Khazaee said.

The envoy said there were "many examples" of Israel killing "innocent Jewish people" and renewed accusations that Israel has been behind recent killings of Iranian nuclear scientists.

Haim Waxman, Israel's deputy UN ambassador, said: "These comments are appalling, but not surprising from the same government that says the 9/11 attack was a conspiracy theory and denies the Holocaust."

Waxman reaffirmed his government's accusations against Iran.

"Iran's fingerprints are all over last week's horrific attack in Bulgaria -- and in dozens of other terrorist plots in recent months that span five continents and at least 24 countries," he said.

Should wild pets be tradeable? | Restokin

There is a lot of activity on the beta pet battles forum. One of the hottest topics right now is about whether or not we should be able to trade/sell wild pets that we capture out in the world. As of now, we know that Blizzard isn?t planning on letting us sell these captured pets once the game is released initially:

We just finished a pass making all pets that are caught via pet battles in the world non-tradeable.? This means these pets cannot be put in cages for trading or posting on the AH.? We felt that the option to buy these pets on the AH would take away from the exploration/collection gameplay of the system.

This could always change in a future patch, but this is how it will go out with MoP.? You should see the change in our next build.

The problem with this system is that it is still theoretically possible to buy pets from vendors, level them to 25, and put them on the AH as a max-level pet. So, this doesn?t prevent someone from buying a level 25 pet. It just limits what pets will be available, and makes it such that only the super rich players will be able to afford to buy high level pets. In addition, I already have over 100 pets, so why would I really need to collect more wild pets if I already have at least a dozen of the pets off the rare list that will already have good stats on day one? It just encourages us to not bother capturing the wild pets if there are easier ways to play the system, and even then, people who don?t want to explore can still find some pets on the AH instead of using wild pets at all.

A lot of people in the forum thread are talking about how they want to be able to buy the pets if they can?t find them out in the world, or want to be able to give them away for free to friends or family members. People in the thread aren?t often talking about wanting to make a profit (there is still plenty of room to make profit off other types of pets). However, people still need to be able to create an economy and social activity out of the pet battle system, which you can?t do if you can?t trade useful pets. There are plenty of pets that shouldn?t be traded (like the Blizzcon pets or CE pets). However, if we can?t trade wild pets, then it sucks a lot of the fun out of the system because it sucks all the value out of capturing wild pets (you get more from leveling up cats you buy in stormwind, even if they aren?t rare quality). If ?Blizzard allows any level 25 pets to be put on the AH at all, it circumvents the point of restricting wild pets to not be able to get put on the AH (it just means they?d be more expensive and restrictive as to who could afford to buy the pre-leveled pets).

If the purpose of the restriction is to prevent people without max-level pets from being able to buy max-level pets, then all you need is a quest or achievement to be able to unlock learning max-level pets. If the wild pets you collect have no value and you can?t give them to your friends, what exactly is the point of collecting wild pets at all? I already have more than three pets that are going to be rare quality in my bags when the system goes live, and leveling three pets up from 1 to 25 really doesn?t take very long at all, especially once they implement all the quests. If there isn?t any point for me to pick up wild pets, I probably just won?t trap many of them as I level up. I?ll just stick to my premade team and grind out the experience faster. I thought the point of this system was to entertain us longer than just the week or two that it takes to level a team up to max level and get bored of battling with our max-level pets. For longevity, there needs to be a pet trading economy to make it seem worthwhile to go through all the effort, since we don?t get any actual real rewards out of the system other than a handful of pets & achievement points.

It?s not that people want to make money, it?s that there always needs to be an incentive & reward for participating in content. The idea that you could make a couple gold off unwanted wild pets was a huge draw because it was the only real reward. Every other type of end-game offers you gold, valor/justice points, and actual gear. Having a pet battle mini-game without a real reward system in place just means that after the novelty wears off, or you get all the achievements, you have no real incentive to keep going. I?m still going to need gold to buy my materials I need for raiding, so if I can?t sell a couple wild pets I found along the way to help keep me from going broke, then I have to instead be out farming herbs, ore or fish to sell on the AH even if that?s a lot less fun to do. Allowing people to have alternative sources of revenue doing something they enjoy should still be supported in the game, and removing that support has consequences on the value of the system.

It doesn?t hurt anyone?s enjoyment of the game if I can put a level 25 rat up on the auction house for someone to buy, but it does help pet collectors pay the bills and potentially adds to peoples? enjoyment of the game. The exploration and collection side of the gameplay benefits from being able to create an economy from our exploring the world.

North Korea speculation rampant in Seoul

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) ? The surprise news set off a predictable wildfire of speculation and rumors south of the border.

Almost as soon as North Korea announced this week that its army chief had been dismissed due to "illness," the aggressive South Korean media went into hyperdrive. By Friday a newspaper, citing "unconfirmed intelligence reports," said Ri Yong Ho may have been wounded or killed in a blaze of gunfire when soldiers loyal to him resisted an armed attempt to detain him.

So which is it ? illness or a gun battle? Perhaps neither. North Korea watchers are skeptical of the illness claim, but even an unnamed government official cited in the South Korean account said the firefight "has still not been 100 percent confirmed."

This is what happens when insatiably curious journalists in Seoul are starved for information about their tight-lipped, isolated rival to the north.

Many seemingly over-the-top news stories cite anonymous government or intelligence officials, North Korean defectors claiming to have sources in their former homeland or simply murky, unexplained, unnamed "sources." Few explain where they get their information, and many reports turn out to be wrong.

"The less we know about a country, the more rumors we tend to create about it," said Kim Byeong-jo, a North Korea professor at the Korea National Defense University in Seoul. "When curiosity is especially strong, rumors grow more sensational. ... Imagination takes over where facts are scarce and sources are unclear."

North Korea has yet to provide details about Ri's health or his future plans. While many outside North Korea experts say he was likely purged, it is still unclear what actually happened.

The capital, Pyongyang, portrayed a peaceful handover to new military chief Hyon Yong Chol. Soldiers celebrated in the streets with choreographed dances Thursday after the announcement of Hyon's new role and the promotion of young new leader Kim Jong Un to marshal.

North Korean officials have disappeared under chilling circumstances before, but the reports of their fates are often based on murky sources.

Amnesty International, citing "unconfirmed reports," said earlier this year that state security officials had detained more than 200 officials in an effort to consolidate Kim Jong Un's power before he became leader. The rights group cited more "unconfirmed reports" that 30 North Korean officials involved in talks with South Korea were "executed by firing squad or killed in staged traffic accidents."

Many reports end up being false. A prominent example ran as a stand-alone special edition of the conservative South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo in 1986.

In what it called a "world exclusive," the paper announced that Kim Il Sung, the current leader's grandfather and the revered founder of the country, was shot to death on a train near the border with South Korea. A day later, Kim was seen greeting a visiting official at Pyongyang's airport; he died in 1994.

In February, rumors that Kim Jong Un was assassinated in a firefight inside the North Korean Embassy in Beijing spread from Chinese websites to Twitter, sparking a frenzy of speculation about an overthrow just weeks after he took power. AP journalists happened to be at the North Korean Embassy in Beijing at the very hour Kim was said to have been killed and saw nothing unusual at the typically quiet compound.

Friday's reports on Ri were as dramatic as they were murky: Chosun Ilbo reported that 20 to 30 soldiers had died in a gunfight when Ri's bodyguards resisted soldiers sent to isolate him. The report quoted a source as saying that the possibility of Ri being wounded or killed in the gunfight couldn't be ruled out.

TV network YTN cited rumors among unnamed defectors about a gunfight.

South Korea's National Intelligence Service told The Associated Press that it has no idea where the newspaper got the information and was working to find details about the claim. The service doesn't talk about how it gets its information.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency, in a statement late Friday, didn't address the reports about an alleged gun battle, but it did criticize what it called "ridiculous" and "false" rumors about the country.

It specifically faulted U.S. and South Korean media for spreading "misinformation," including reports about "serious power scrambles within the leadership" in North Korea, speculation that Ri wasn't dismissed because of illness and that the country was shifting away from its "military first" policy.

Separately, the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that U.S. hostility was forcing it "to totally re-examine the nuclear issue." It didn't elaborate. Talks on persuading the North to abandon its nuclear weapons program are stalled.

As an example of how news can become cloudy when information is controlled, Kim Byeong-jo, the professor in Seoul, pointed to South Korea itself. In 1980, tens of thousands took to the streets in Gwangju to protest the junta that seized power after authoritarian President Park Chung-hee was assassinated in office.

About 200 people died, but there were rumors of thousands of deaths. Kim said a media blackout meant people outside the southwestern city knew little about the military operations going on against the city's people.

"It takes time for real facts to emerge when information is controlled. In North Korea's case, it takes even longer, and, worse yet, truth may never even surface," he said.

NEW?ORLEANS - Between Thursday and Sunday, a trip to the Central Business District or French Quarter could mean extra driving challenges. There are 35,000 young people, their adult chaperones and volunteers in New Orleans for the Youth Gathering of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

For tens of thousands of young people, the gathering is a four-day religious experience coupled with the chance to make a difference in the lives of others.

They meet every three years, and their last session in 2009 was also held in New Orleans.

"Your community impacted our young people with their wonderful hospitality and their great, deep gratitude. Our young people need to hear that they they are cared for and loved and appreciated. That is one thing that we've learned deeply from this community," said Heidi Hagstorm, the Youth Gathering director.

This year's event, "Citizens with the Saints," is an opportunity to explore their faith and gain a better understanding of their church and its mission.

It also encourages them to help others. They'll participate in community service activities for nearly 50 different organizations, including the New Orleans Recreation Department, UNITY, Second Harvest Food Bank and the St. Bernard Project.

They've been collecting 1,000,000 books for New Orleans children and plan to pack a book bag for every third and fourth-grader in Orleans and Jefferson parish.

"What we hope to see is actual changed lives, that the teens who come here will be impacted by what they do, by what they see, that they're going to go home to their places and be changed people," said organizer Pastor Sean Ewbank in July 2009.

They are also encouraged to learn from the people and culture of New Orleans.

City leaders warn drivers to be prepared for lots of extra traffic, with 150 buses at the Superdome each day and thousands of teens walking through the CBD and Vieux Carre.
