Look Before You Make the Leap to Hulu Plus for Android
The 5-year-old subscription streaming video service known as "Hulu Plus" has doubled its subscriber numbers in the last seven months to more than 2 million, according to numbers bandied about by the company. Hulu is a joint venture between investors and television operators: Comcast's NBCUniversal, Fox Entertainment and the Walt Disney Company. Competitors include Netflix and cable providers like Time Warner Cable.

Before Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg closed out Coachella on Sunday night, there were rumors that the long-deceased Tupac Shakur would make an appearance via hologram, but it truly took seeing to believe it.
In the days since, it's been confirmed that Holo-Pac was "Dr. Dre's Vision," and now the good doctor admits that he hopes to see the technology spread. TMZ caught up with Dre in Los Angeles, where he graciously — and enthusiastically — answered questions about the hologram, which has been described as his brainchild. Dre didn't give any predictions for how popular hologram performances might become, but he did reveal the next step, in terms of technology.
"I'm not sure right now, [there's] a technology that's happening where the hologram could be 360 degrees," Dre said, explaining how the hologram would likely evolve. "Right now it's flat, it just looks like it's 3-dimensional from the front, but I'm working on some new and different things for the future."
Dre seemed to be very proud of the success of Holo-Pac, adding, "I think everybody's in love with it right now, so we're having fun."
The legendary producer doesn't seem to be too invested in the moral debates about resurrecting dead musicians, saying that he hopes his hologram will inspire other spin-offs. "Hopefully, different artists are able to bring out their favorite artists," he said. "Hopefully, we can see Jimi Hendrix and Marvin Gaye. Let's see what happens."
Before we see Jimi Hendrix onstage, however, the biggest hologram rumor in circulation is that Dre would take the holographic Tupac on tour, to which he replied, "Thinking about it, nothing for sure."
Earlier in the week, MTV News spoke with Nick Smith, president of AV Concepts, the San Diego company that provided the technology for the hologram. "We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre's vision to bring this back to life," Smith said. "It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life."

HTC One S shows up on T-Mobile's site, reveals its $599 price (update: $200 on-contract at Best Buy)
We know T-Mo's got a special HTC One S event in the works for later today, but it seems like someone's a tad bit trigger happy and decided to out the handset ahead of time. Currently posing freely on the carrier's site, this "Gradient Blue" flavor of the One S is showing a hefty $599 retail price, though surely will be lower with a subsidized deal in place. Aside from revealing how much damage it'll do if you take the no-contract route, T-Mobile's page is also listing the full set of features and specs packed within the One Series member. All the details should be officially unveiled soon, but until then you can head over to the source below, where you can add your name to the "Notify me" list if you plan on snatching one of these Sense 4-packing beasts.
Update: Well, that didn't take long. The phone has now also turned up on Best Buy's website, where it's listed with a slightly lower $550 off-contract price or the usual $200 on a two-year term. Orders are expected to ship after April 25th.
Update 2: It appears that a certain big box retailer just got a bit greedy. A tipster has pointed out that Best Buy has boosted the off-contract price of the One S to a full $650. [Thanks, Michael]

ASUS won't release Transformer Prime GPS dongles in Italy or Greece (updated)
We're afraid we've got some bad news. Transformer Prime users outside of America and Taiwan in Italy and Greece won't receive a GPS dongle to address their tablet's lackluster mapping performance. The company confirmed on its Italian Facebook page that while it was advertised in the US and Taiwan as having "Full GPS," once issues were found, the European advertising was changed to read "GPS Locator" -- in short: it's not its problem, go away. We've included a machine-translated version below so you can hear it from the horse's mouth Facebook wall and we apologize in advance for any errors.
"Guys confirm that the initiative is reserved for those territories where Prime was marketed with the GPS between the specifications of the product. So mainly the U.S. and Taiwan. In Italy Prime was marketed with a GPS locator, and not with a "Full" as car navigation. Function that we believe the rest is useless in combination with a tablet. Customers who bought Prime has done with the understanding that GPS is not present, then from our side there were no broken promises or misleading claims. We do not understand then what the reason of your critical Riccardo. Among other things, the satisfaction level of users who bought Prime is very high. In sharp contrast with what you say. It means that the product performs its function very well"
Update: Looks like there's some confusion between the company's Italian arm and the rest of Europe. Readers have forwarded links to various European-country pages to apply for a dongle before July 31st this year.
Update 2: ASUS got in touch to clarify the position, saying that only customers in Italy and Greece won't be able to get GPS dongles, but all other customers are invited to check if they're eligible on the official website (More Coverage), adding that
"ASUS Global would like to further clarify that we're always committed to delivering the best experience for our customers through regular software updates and, where necessary, accessories like the GPS Extension Kit."

Guns N' Roses Shout Out 'That Metal Show' At Rock Hall

Axl wasn't there, but Saturday night's (April 15) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony did feature three original members of Guns N' Roses — Slash, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler — who jammed with former Gunners Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum (plus Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy stepping in to fill Rose's shoes) on a medley of the band's biggest hits.
Of course, there was also a cameo that only eagle-eyed fans of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" probably caught: The show's logo, worn squarely on Adler's chest.
Adler has appeared on "That Metal Show" before and is an avowed fan of the program — he even canceled a performance by his band Adler's Appetite in 2010 to appear as a guest. McKagan and Slash have both also appeared on "TMS," and, in fact, late last year, the former Guns guitarist discussed the band's inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson (and Jamieson's awesome Wolverine sideburns).
And "TMS" also got the most elusive prize, a sit down with Axl Rose, who explained some of what caused so many starts and stops on old Guns tours. "A lot of times, the day of show, for some reason everything goes wrong.You're making mistakes, they are making mistakes and no one knows why. Everyone gets hit by ADD or something," said Rose. "A lot of this goes way way back to '91 when we were super late going onstage." Watch the Full Interview Here
At the time, Slash was still trying to figure out how the HOF even worked, and he was sure drama would certainly follow GN'R's induction, but he called it an honor nonetheless.
"The thing is trying to figure out exactly what the RRHOF actually is. Who put that together? Anybody could've come up with that," he laughed. "Under the circumstances, I don't spend a lot of time dwelling on it, but it's an honor, all things considered."

Latest Reality News: Commercial real estate rent increased
The state statistics agency has announced that the prices for commercial real estate leasing in Kazakhstan in the first quarter of this year increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year. The cost of rent service points, industrial and retail space increased by 5%, 3.5% and 3%, respectively. A little more than moderate was the increase in the cost of renting the premises of the administrative office of destination, restaurants, catering, and storage facilities.

Henrico names new finance director | Richmond Times-Dispatch

Eugene H. Walter has served as budget director for Henrico County.
Henrico County's budget director, Eugene H. Walter, will take over as the new director of the Department of Finance on May 1, County Manager Virgil R. Hazelett announced this morning.
Walter succeeds John A. Vithoulkas, who was promoted in December to deputy county manager for administration. Vithoulkas has continued to serve as director of Finance.
A Henrico employee since 1997, Walter worked as a budget analyst and supervisor before becoming budget director in 2008, the county said in a news release.
Under Henrico?s county manager form of government, the finance director performs duties typically performed by the constitutionally elected treasurer and commissioner of revenue. Finance includes five divisions: accounting, the office of budget and management, revenue, treasury and real estate.

Suffice it to say that in his lengthy, lawyerly letter to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this week refusing his induction as part of the classic line-up of Guns N' Roses, singer Axl Rose had a bone (or two, or six or 20) to pick with the process.
It's hard to say who the enigmatic hard-rock icon was most mad at, but his steadfast refusal to attend the induction, or even acknowledge the honor, put him in a long tradition of rock legends who've either bashed the RRHOF for not including them (only to change their tune once their number came up) or refused to show up, not to mention the fans who've raised holy hell when their favorite bands couldn't make the cut.
"We Want You on That Wall, We Need You On That Wall": Our Open Letter To Axl Rose
Among the other hell-raisers:
Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath: Before the group got the call in 2005 , the Blizzard of Ozz had been very vocal about how little he wanted to do with the Hall. In a 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame, Ozzy famously told the institution, "Just take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the media, who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me." He added, "Let's face it, Black Sabbath has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that suits us just fine."
John Lydon/Sex Pistols: Lydon (aka "Johnny Rotten") was his typical snotty self when his pioneering punk band made the short list in 2006. In a cheeky letter, the perennially put out Lydon wrote, "Next to the Sex Pistols rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. Your museum. Urine in wine. We're not coming. We're not your monkey and so what?" Needless to say, the band did not show up for the ceremony.
Gene Simmons/Kiss: The kabuki theater bass player is never at a loss for words. And nothing makes him angrier than the fact that the "greatest band in the world" has never been invited to the party. He's lashed out at the Rock Hall repeatedly in the 12 years since his group became eligible. "There are disco bands, rap bands, Yiddish folk song bands, but not Kiss," he said in 2008.
David Lee Roth/Eddie Van Halen/Van Halen: The longest-running soap opera in rock was kicked up a notch in 2007 when VH was slated for induction. Original singer Roth had been rehearsing for the event and speculation swirled for months about who would show up and if replacement singer Sammy Hagar would be on hand as well. Then, in classic VH fashion, Eddie and Dave both bailed and it was left to Hagar and now-former bassist Michael Anthony to accept on the band's behalf.
And then there are the fans. In addition to the unending volley of complaints from the Kiss Army, followers of Canadian prog rockers Rush have been bellyaching for the past decade of the band's eligibility that the wizardly trio deserve their spot in the Hall. They've picketed, launched petitions and all but drawn their broadswords and threatened to storm the I.M. Pei-designed glass pyramid in Cleveland to rectify this grave injustice. All to no avail.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) ? An Ohio man accused of zipping six bulldog-mix puppies into a suitcase and leaving it next to a trash bin might have gotten away with it if he had remembered to remove the luggage tag bearing his contact information, authorities said Wednesday.
A Toledo Area Humane Society officer filed two misdemeanor charges of abandoning animals against Howard Davis, 53, of Toledo, this week, according to court records. Davis was not arrested, and he could not be found for comment Wednesday.
"It's unfortunate he chose to abandon the dogs," said John Dinon, the Humane Society's executive director. "If he had just called us and said he couldn't care for them, we would have taken them and he wouldn't have been charged with a crime."
Passers-by found the suitcase containing the three female and three male puppies outside a business on April 4, authorities said. The pups were about 4 weeks old.
The mother matches the description of a dog licensed to Davis and was identified as his dog by people who also said he had been trying to sell the puppies, Dinon said.
Davis told a Humane Society officer that he had given the dogs to someone in Michigan and had not abandoned them, Dinon said.
The puppies were in good shape so must have been found shortly after they were left, Dinon said. The mother was a bit thin, he said ? not unusual for a dog nursing puppies.
The dogs will be sent to a foster home until they are ready for adoption.
Davis is scheduled to appear in Toledo Municipal Court on April 13.

Jennifer Hudson May Testify At Family Murder Trial

Jury selection continued on Monday (April 9) in the trial of William Balfour, who is accused of murdering three members of Oscar-winning singer Jennifer Hudson's family. It is expected to take three days to find the 12 jurors and six alternates for the trial from among the 150 prospective jury members and, according to the Chicago Tribune, the shadow of Hudson's fame could become a factor in the selection.
Balfour is accused of murdering Hudson's mother (Darnell Donerson), brother (Jason Hudson) and nephew (Julian King) on October 24, 2008 and while the singer has rarely spoken out in public about the tragedy, her fame could have an impact on the proceedings.
The judge in the case, Charles Burns, will attempt to purge the jury pool anyone who might be swayed by the star's celebrity, while the lawyers on each side will strive to find a mix of deliberators who will favor their arguments, regardless of how they feel about the star.
Balfour, 30, is facing a maximum life sentence if convicted, but Burns warned any would-be jurors who oppose the death penalty that he cannot be put to death because the state of Illinois outlawed capital punishment in 2011.
Testimony is slated to begin on April 23 and officials expect Hudson to attend every day of the trial, which could last a month. She is also on a list of 300 potential witnesses, though it has not yet been confirmed that she will take the stand. Burns also instructed the potential jurors to avoid watching news coverage of the case, though it's possible they will see Hudson on TV this Thursday, when she will return to sing on "American Idol," where she finished in seventh place in 2004.
Everyone involved in the case is aware of how Hudson's presence could sway the trial, which explains why nine out of the 66 questions on the questionnaire filled out by would-be jurors last week were related to her career. Among them was one that asked if they'd ever seen her Oscar-winning turn in the movie "Dreamgirls," as well as others about her work on television and if they'd ever read books by or about Hudson.
Details emerged recently about the incidents leading up to the murders . At the time her career was peaking, Hudson made a point of calling or texting her mother at home in Chicago every day between 9 and 11 a.m., according to reports. But when she didn't hear back by late in the morning of October 24, she texted and realized something was wrong when there was no response.
A few hours later, the bodies of her mother and brother were found in the family's Englewood home, followed three days later by the discovery of her young nephew's body in a stolen vehicle abandoned on the city's west side. Balfour was the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia.

Far East Movement Promise 'Booty Popping' On LMFAO Tour

Far East Movement clearly aren't preparing any apologies for their upcoming Sorry for Party Rocking Tour with LMFAO.
When MTV News caught up with the fellas of FM recently, they shared what the motto is for the 26-date trek, which will also feature the Quest Crew, Sidney Samson, Eva Simons and Natalia Kills. "It's gonna be a whole lot of bass and a whole lot of showers," J-Splif explained. "Bring your raincoats."
"There's going to be a little bit of wiggling going on," Kev Nish added. "There's gonna be shuffling, booty popping, a lot of movement. That's what both crews like to do. Big shout-out to [LMFAO's] RedFoo and the Party Rock Crew and [our label] Cherry Tree, really, for putting this all together."
The tour will kick off in Columbus, Ohio, on May 22 before partying all around the country, including stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami. The tour will wrap up on July 4 in Toronto. And, given the two groups' long, rambunctious history with each other, it should come as no surprise that their focus will be on having fun.
"We've been friends with LMFAO since, like, the diaper days," Nish continued. "We was all partying in diapers, chilling in the crib. But, yeah, we're grateful to them, all the love they've shown us. RedFoo actually co-directed/executive produced the video for 'Live My Life,' and we took the energy of the tour that we've already been on and put that on camera."
May 22 also happens to be the day Far East Movement drop their new album, Dirty Bass, which features Justin Bieber on the lead single, "Live My Life," and Tokio Hotel's Bill Kaulitz on "If I Die Tomorrow."
